Hi! I am trying to create a map in ArcGIS in order to represent the SHDI of my study area. However, when trying to find out exactly how to do this it says i need to check a "write grid" box, but i cannot find this box? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello Ajam,
If your question is about accomplishing a task in ArcGIS we unfortunately cannot offer any advice. We have no access to an ArcGIS installation currently. If somebody reading the forum can offer any advice they would be welcome to do so.
As for generating some grid as a result of an analysis in Fragstats, you can generate a patch id grid if you check the "Generate patch ID file" in the "No sampling" strategy in the analysis parameters.
Other specific grids are automatically generated if you choose for instance "Moving window" or "Cell metrics" as your strategy.
Best regards,
Eduard

Hello Ajam,
I do not see what it is that you are trying to accomplish.
Fragstats is a spatial pattern analysis software. The user provides input in the form of grids, tables and selects analysis options. Then Fragstats runs and the user gets output. Depending on the analysis parameters you chose you may get some of the output as grids or as tables that can be saved on disk.
There is no "Write grid" checkbox or button and what would it even do if there was one? It cannot pull a grid out of the blue sky and write it. All of Fragstats output is the result of running a spatial analysis.
To really understand Fragstats we strongly recommend reading the documentation and a good foundation in Landscape Ecology.
If this insistent search for the elusive "Write grid" function is due to some AI engine recommendation, its probably because AI engines sometime hallucinate. There is nothing we can do to help in this case.
Best regards,
Eduard
